re: One for the short list?
Dear Harriet, Since I believe you are still doing your vetting job for the President, I wanted to alert you to
this guy: U.S. District Judge Vaughn Walker of San Francisco.
Yesterday, he proved a reasonable jurist by dismissing the ACLU/Turkel case against the US and AT&T by stating:
"The court is persuaded that requiring AT&T to confirm or deny whether it has disclosed large quantities of telephone records to the federal government could give adversaries of this country valuable insight into the government's intelligence activities"
Now that's a clear cut decision. And considering he classified his comments pertaining to testimony by the National Intelligence Director, he's very circumspect as well.
And it doesn't hurt that the Chicago council of lawyers are in favor of the guy and
told lefty Illinois dems he was qualified.
In time of war, Harriet, this guy may be someone for the shortlist, I think.

re: A Little Good News in Iraq is Hard to Find, unless you write a blog.
Dear MSM: Word on the street is that you're having a hard time covering nothing but carnage and death in Iraq. It seems like everywhere you go, you find suicide bombers, exploding cars, and dying civilians.
Well, I feel for you. It must be really hard to be in country and not be able to find one single good news story for which America can feel good about as we fight in the Global War on Terror.
So, here, let me help you out. I googled "good news from Iraq" in gee, guess what?
I found some! Total research time - 30 seconds.
Here's "a few" for you to cover, if you're not too busy with "if it bleeds, it leads":

re: Come Home.
Dear Senator. I'm sure the last few weeks have been incredibly telling to you. I'm sure the coming weeks heading to the primary will be even more telling.
As
one liberal democrat after another not only
turns their back on you but
actively contributes and campaigns for your defeat in the upcoming primary, I am mystified why that (D) is still a part of your title.
I hear
Hillary is hedging her bets, as
are Schumer and
Reid. Your buddy Russ Feingold has showed his appreciation for your support on McCain-Feingold by
stabbing you in the back on National TV. In fact,
only 3 of your fellow Democratic Senators have offered post primary support for you should you decide to run as an independent. And 25 of your colleages simply refuse to say.
And now, word on the street is that even your
former running mate turned mini-
Moore, AlGore, has turned his back on you.
Now, let's take a look at your REAL friends. The President will surely support you
if you go independent. Republicans all over the country stand shoulder to shoulder with you on the war in Iraq and the overall Global War on Terror. I'm sure many are contributing to your campaign. Sean Hannity not only has you on his shows regularly, he's offered to actively campaign for your election.
What Democrat still welcomes you unconditionally with open arms, Holy Joe? Come home to your real friends. Those who will help you get reelected. Those who give you respect. Those who will listen to your ideas and share many of your values.
Come to the Republican Party, Holy Joe. We have more in common with you anyway, don't we?

re: Words of Wisdom in times of Crisis
"When Arabs love their children more than they hate the Jews, then we'll have peace."
- Golda Mier
This is a lesson that your Arab brothers in Egypt learned 30 years ago.
In this time of crisis, the only question I have is, WHY CAN'T YOU?

re: WALT WOULD BE SO PROUD.
Not.You know, Lind, can I call you Lind? Anyway, legend has it that when Mouseketeer alumni
Annette Funicello grew up and did her famous "Beach" movies with Frankie Avalon, she promised Walt Disney she not only would wear a one piece bathing suit and stay modest, but she would never do any role that would embarrass Mr. Disney or the legacy she helped to create with her starring in Disney projects.
Too bad you didn't get the memo on that.
