MEMO TO: HARRIET MIERS

re: One for the short list?
Dear Harriet, Since I believe you are still doing your vetting job for the President, I wanted to alert you to
this guy: U.S. District Judge Vaughn Walker of San Francisco.
Yesterday, he proved a reasonable jurist by dismissing the ACLU/Turkel case against the US and AT&T by stating:
"The court is persuaded that requiring AT&T to confirm or deny whether it has disclosed large quantities of telephone records to the federal government could give adversaries of this country valuable insight into the government's intelligence activities"
Now that's a clear cut decision. And considering he classified his comments pertaining to testimony by the National Intelligence Director, he's very circumspect as well.
And it doesn't hurt that the Chicago council of lawyers are in favor of the guy and
told lefty Illinois dems he was qualified.
In time of war, Harriet, this guy may be someone for the shortlist, I think.
